Default New member with a 1990 Suzuki LT230 QuadRunner

I just bought this quad and know absolutely nothing about it. It will start (with some coaxing) using the pull starter. I do plan on putting a battery in and utilizing the electric start for sure. It doesn't want to idle, but if you keep the RPMs up it is drivable.

Here are some of my questions:

Is the choke on the left grip?
What is the little **** on the right side of the carb that I think is the choke?
Is that a compression release on the right side of the engine head?
What else should I know, look out for, etc?
Where can I get a PDF manual, I can only find LT230S QuadSport manuals?

Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it. I also own a 1989 Suzuki LT250R QuadRacer.

Default air/fuel issues

I rebuilt the carb. It will idle fine now. It starts up great, it idles great, it accelerates great and runs at WOT great too. I did a spark plug check and the electrode/insulator is white. It is a stock rebuild kit, I am running a stock air filter and exhaust, and I tuned the carb to stock settings. I am at 4350 feet elevation, if anything it should be running rich. Should I try and go up one size on the main jet? The issue I am having is finding bigger main jets for it, where do I get them?

I am a new owner also, but after alot of reading on these forums it seems the stock jets work well with alot of different setups. I am in Ohio and I am in the process of trying to title the quad. BMV and title bureau has directions on their website, but after visiting the title bureau, they said i need a title or MSO (which the previous owner had neither) and Suzuki does not reissue an MSO after 7 years, so i have not had it out anywhere except in my back yard and we are under 1000 ft. elevation here. Check out the vault link on some of these posts, it has alot of handy info.

Yeah, I checked the vault, I also have the owners/service manual. The info I need can't be found. I did check a site that has a variety of Mikuni carb jets, but I dont know if its a small or large round?

Idle screw = 1350rpm
air/fuel screw = 2-3/8 turns out
pilot jet = #20
needle jet = 3rd clip
main jet = #115

Sorry my knowledge on that is very limited. If you find out let me know, so when i need to rebuild i do not have to reinvent the wheel. I am looking to tow something with mine, do you have any knowledge of any type of hitch for the quad?

One other question for you, i put on a new front sproket from Rocky mountain and it is thicker than the one that was on the quad when i bought it, so the lock washer teeth do not set very deep on the shaft teeth, it barely sits on the teeth. any info on that?

I really dont know about hitches, I dont plan on getting one, so I wouldn't know where to direct you. As far as the sprocket goes, sounds dangerous.

As far as carb jetting goes, if I get any info on main jets I'll post it here. I am thinking about getting 117.5, 120, 122.5 spare main jets. Judging by the sparkplug reading I bet I will need to bump up to the 120.
