Default 89 suzuki lt250 quadsport help

I bought an 89 Suzuki lt250 quadsport. It ran great for a couple months until the chain broke and hit the magneto cover and cracked it. It took about 3 months before I finally found one and got it on and got a new chain and sprockets. When I got it all together it wouldn't kick start so I pop started it. It started but it had no power and the muffler was red hot. I ran it a lot and it eventually gains some power back after being warmed up but it still won't kick start and it still hasn't gotten near the power back that it originally had. I'm wondering what the problem could be.

Sounds like its running very lean. Probably a clogged pilot/slow jet. Remove carburetor bowl and clean the pilot jet, main jet, and bowl.

Thanks for the advice. I took the jets off and blew them out with an air compressor. I didn't have any carb cleaner on hand so I didn't soak them in that, but I plan on getting some hopefully soon. But blowing air did make the holes bigger. When I got the carb back on it still wouldn't start. I pop started it and it did have a considerable amount of power back, but it still wouldn't start.
Is there a compression release valve on the carb that would help with starting it, because on the throttle side of the carb is a little black lever that you can pull in and out.

That **** is the starter circuit, it helps with cold starts by richening up the fuel mixture. For cold "winter" starts, pull it out. To clean the pilot jet properly, use a small gauge piano wire or a tiny bobby pin, and spray with cleaner.

I cleaned the carb out and it still wouldn't start even after I pop started and ran it for a while. I checked the spark and figured out that there isn't one at all. Could the problem be a bad magneto. Besoude while it was sitting the magneto was just sitting on the engine. will that reduce the charge that it gives to create a spark?
