need help jetting lt250r
I have an 86 lt250r and I want some jetting recommendations.
when I bought it the motor needed a complete rebuild so I never heard it run, but currently it has a 240 main, 45 pilot, air screw turned 3 1/ 2 turns out, yes I know needs a smaller pilot. I don't know what the needle clip was at. It had stock reeds, no airbox LID, Idk pipe, and a k&n air filter. So what I was wandering what you guys think I should run, I will have no airbox with uni filter, pipe, and boyesen power reeds. So wandering what a good starting point would be? thanks in advance! |
Sorry supposed to say DG pipe

I believe the best place to start is to warm the bike up and go ride, shift to about third gear and then just shut the bike off in mid rev, its called a Shirt kill I believe. From this point pull the plug and read it. The plug will tell you if you are running rich or lean. Make sure you kill the bike during mid rev!

Well I plan on doing that but this is going to be a brand new motor and I would like a good starting point on jetting,

First, are you running the stock carb? 240 seems pretty big but it has been a few years since I had my '86. Better to be to big than to small! Call DG with your parts/setup and elevation. They should be able to get you close.

Ya stock Carb but I know its jetted for a pipe and no airbox lid, but I got rid of the airbox so it will be just an open filter so I'm wandering what I should put in it just so I can start it and break it in then jet it but I just don't want it to be lean
