2007 Suzuki LTZ-50 Won't Move. HELP!!
 

I bought this LTZ-50 for $50 and it didn't run.

I changed the oil, ultrasonic cleaned the carb, new air filter and now it starts.

The idle is high and I have not been able to change that with the throttle stop screw or the air/fuel mix screw. It smokes a white smoke and it won't move.

I am not sure if the belt is stretched, clutches are bad, drive shaft and counter shaft are stripped. I really have no clue. Any help would be great

I am sure it is something simple but I am stumped!

Does the rear wheels spin if you pick the rear end up?

yes if I jack up the back end the tires spin and spin faster when I give it gas

I'd start with taking the clutchs off and inspect. See if there is a roller problem.
Then maybe motor? Valve adjustment possibly or compression???

I am going out to the shop to take a few pictures of the roller, cage and plates. I will also readjust the valves and check the compression.

What should I look for other than flats spots on rollers?

I adjusted the valves correctly IN .003in and EX .005in at TDC on compression stroke--right after the intake valve closes.

I got a compression reading of 60 PSI. The spec says no lower than 114 PSI and standard is 156 - 171 PSI. This would explain, I think, why the clutch won't engage and why the sparkplug is black after running for 20 minutes total.

Does anything look out of sorts on the clutch?

It seems as though I am headed for a top end rebuild. I have not found any oversize pistons or rings for this model.

Do you know where I can get these parts?

The front clutch seems fine.
Suzuki doesn't show oversize pistons. That usually means that the cylinder is nikasiled (hard plated) and you don't bore those. You might want to call a Suzuki dealer on that.
If no damage is done to the cylinder wall, a new piston/rings should do it.
I recommend Suzuki parts.

Dealer confirmed that the cylinder is coated with nikasil and that I should scotch brite the cylinder wall with carb cleaner and install new rings.

Do you think that compression is what was causing my clutch not to ingage?

Yes, no compression, no power. These 50cc 4 strokes have so lil power in the first place.
Far be it for me to argue with the dealer...but, After ripping all that apart, don't it make sense to put a new piston in also?! I think pistons wear too.
