Bad/worn rings, hole in piston, scored cylinder wall, blown head gasket, warped head, wrong sized piston...I'm sure I missed a couple...

Head is fine imo.
If the base gasket isn't tore, you can re-use both gaskets. While apart, you could try placing a rag on top and blowing air down around the crank. Usually it's together and we take the plug out, disconnect the wire to the coil, use rag, and spin motor till most is gone. Then apply full throttle till is starts and cleans out. |
Did you try squirting some oil in since the new rebuild to see if the comp raised?

Won't start.. wet plug after trying (gas not oil)? If not put 2 fingers in front of carb to hand choke it. If wet, maybe flooded. Apply full throttle till it starts and cleans out.

Sounds like it...
BTW, 105 PSI on a fresh top-end is not right...should be 120+...my LT80 rebuilds have all been 130+... |

I don't think so...but Jack is the Pro so I'll defer to him...

I think rings seat..depending. If you run synthetic (and everyone should) they take forever to seat if they do. It's advised to run a petroleum based oil to seat the rings. Then go to synthetic.
I run synthetic. Period. With all that said, 105 is certainly enough to for it to start. |
