LT80 axle bearing removal

1) What is the best way to remove the rear axle bearings? Mine are beat and the inside lip does not appear to be large enough to grab with a bearing removal tool.

2) Are factory bearings unsealed? Current bearings in it are sealed. How can these possible get greased by way of the grease fitting on the carrier? I just took the seals off and filled the carrier up with grease as an experiment. All that happened is the bearings became super tight and a very tiny bit seeped through the bearing seal.

I have read people have overfilled the carrier and had grease on the brakes. How?

If you can not get a puller behind the race, you might need to cut and break the race. The race is very hard and brittle steel.

One of the ways I do that is to use a die grinder to cut a groove in it, then whack the groove with a cold chisel. Depending on the situation, you may also want to try a propane torch to loosen it up.

Post a photo to show what you are trying to do.

I use heat. Get the carrier hot enough and the bearing should fall out.. Same with installing the new bearing. Once the bearing is in place, douse it with a lil water.

Thanks. Just did that this morning. They literally slid right in.

Are factory bearings unsealed?

Hmm, not sure. I may have a set to look at.
