Default Ltz 400 starts hard

I have a 2003 Ltz 400 starts from jump pack or pop start but with just the battery it just rolls over but not start. I tried new battery, coil and plug and no change. what else might it be?

Prolly valve adjustment or it's time to freshen the top end.
I didn't see where you cleaned the carb.

I assume by "jump pack" you mean another DC source. Are you simply paralleling the jump pack with the existing battery, or doing something different? Starting with one and not the other doesn't make sense (all other things being equal). Does either method seem to spin the motor at about the same speed?
