hi there, ive bought a vinson 500 and the crank was seize, so a friend of mine had a arctic cat 500 engine wich is made by suzuki, so i bought that from him, it bolt right there except 2 things, had to change the parts where speedometer cable hook and re-use old one original form vinson and also the neutral switch the clip was different and one wire was missing, so i remove clip from vinson and replace it witht he one on the cat engine, when i turn key on i see all fonction except the low gear so i assume the missing wire was that, everything else on the digital odometer work good and neutral light goes on when in neutral too, now everything is hock and bolt where it need to be and all fender are back on, try to start it, :O wont start, i check remove spark plug and there no spark, ive put new spark still samething no spark, i use coil from another vinson still no spark, i went and swap cdi and still no spark, i read tru the service manual and its not clear how to test stator, but previous owner swear it was running great no spark issue, i dont know if its a missing ground could do that or what else? previous owner of bike say it was all working good until engine seize. any help will be appreciate guys, thanks

 

I have a feeling there is something a bit odd about Vinson stators, but it is 10 years since I did one so I can't remember much about it. For an Eiger stator, the exciter coil and trigger coils should be producing AC volts when the starter is turning the engine over, and the three wires going to the regulator should have a roughly equal resistance and not be shorting to earth.
