My brother just picked his up and is on the way to LS, Utah. The chain adjustment doesn't have the two bolts on the right and left side of the swingarm, hmmm. Looks easier, but has the four on top as everybody knows. The air box has a snorkel similar in a way to the Raptors, which mean just take that thing off and toss it. Has a normal air filter system. Frame is a charcoal color. Headlights look great. Seat is very very nice. Bars are high and I liked them. Center of gravity looks awsome. He ran it in the parking lot and said it will destroy his 400ex. Some things are similar to other quads, but Suzuki has done good w/ locating the radiator where it should be. Yamaha mounted the radiator on the YZ on the handlebars back in 1980 and Suzuki's placemant was lowest and best positioned of the big four for many years. Yamaha did you learn anything 22 yrs ago?? I'll have a full report tomorrow and how it tackles the dunes, jumps (as he will air it out) and the mighty Sand Mtn late tomorrow.....

Sweet. This thing is gonna be wicked.

i just got back from my dealership and your right sand god, everything about this quad is sweet. my quad was parked right by a raptor and it looks soooooooooo similar to it (it even looks just as high until you measure it. i certainly think suzuki did their homework and they go away with an A.

it's hard to beat a 400ex and raptor hybrid and that's exactly what suzuki did.

I think that it looks great! They really did make a 400ex/raptor hybrid as thrshr said...darn nice. I wish I had the money to add it into my garage!! My only complaint is those tires, I hate them on the raptor, but in some people riding conditions they are nice, we should all have our choice of tires that come on them stock

Front and rear bolt patterns are the same as 250r's/400ex's, C-Dales. The Z has 17" long shocks and the ex 16". Fipping rims looks like it can only be done w/ a flush mount valve stem on the other side of the wheel. It won't work any other way. I'll let my brother Buddah comment on his full day of riding at LS, Utah.....

Sandgod,

You get your Cannondale yet? Planning a trip with Alan to DS days, I think it's going to be in NV though.

Can't wait to hear about the Z.

Later

<< Front and rear bolt patterns are the same as 250r's/400ex's, C-Dales. The Z has 17" long shocks and the ex 16". >>

does this mean that:
1- we are moving toward standardization in some basic sport quad parts?(wheels)like the computer industry is with the IBM clones back in the '80s and we can actually stop re-inventing the wheel for every new machine... and move forward?... i.e. work on more technical aspects than bolt patterns.

2- 17" shocks....are long travel front ends(12"+) easier to do on the Z?

Hey Dual-sporter, stop using common sense and logic. It has no place in this day and age!!
Somebody give this guy a job!

RaptorRidr660R May 6, 2002 12:09 AM

common sence is just what we need here, I wonder about the long travel on the Z now too, it would be nice to have 12"+....

Sandgod May 6, 2002 12:13 AM

The shocks are 17" long not 17" of travel. Figured maybe the shocks like the wheels are interchangeable, they're not..
