My 8 day old Z with less than a tank of gas ran through it has a little knock at idle at the back of the gearbox. I have not ran it hard and it goes away when you give it some gas. Anybody else heard this. Thanks TODD

I've got the same noise. Mine started at about the same interval as yours. And I have been riding since May. It hasn't gotten any worse and I haven't taken it back to the dealer for the break-in check up and service yet. My noise acts like it's related to the clutch somehow.

let me guess, it goes away when you pull in the clutch. my 91 lt 250 did it also, as well as my Z. must be a suzuki thing.

No, Its still does it even with the clutch in. I don't know what it is but I don't think it is arod or crank bearing because it comes from the back of the gearbox.

I think its a Suzuki motor trademark. The 500s all do this. On the 500s it has something to do with the compression.

I went out and fired it up . the noise is not as bad when you pull the clutch in. I just wanted to know if others made the same noise.

Could be the reverse gear rocking just a bit without any load on it then when you start moving all the gears load up and the noise goes away. That is what was the deal on my wife's now my oldest sons 300EX.

My 300EX never made any noise. As long as it is normal, I will ride it and hope for the best. our local shop wench head lives down the road from me. If it is a problem, he will take care of me.

Mine makes the same noise, although my daughter's doesn't. I took it to the dealer and they checked the clutch assembly for loose hardware and faulty parts. Nothing was amiss. Plus, the sales manager, who runs a DRZ400, said his bike makes the same sounds, which he considers typical for that powerplant after it's broken-in. He said to expect my daughter's to be a little noisier when she has more hours on it. Naturally, I'd prefer less extraneous noise...

Mine makes the same noise, it knocks slightly. I took it to my dealer he said this is natural. He said if it knocks too loud to bring it back. I have a suzuki sports bike which makes the same noise so I am not to worried about it. I have had the sport bike for 3 years and no problem.
