Looking for feedback on Ozark 250's
Does anyone have one? I'm looking at getting one sometime around Jan/Feb. Just looking for any pro's/con's on them. Back when I was in High School, we had a couple 230 dual range quadrunners. Man, we had some good times on those things riding the trails back home in WV. Lots of good memories. Me and my wife are getting our son a 2000 quad 80 for Christmas, from a friend of ours. So, that means dad has to have one to ride again. I've been wanting to get another one for years, but wan't able to. The Ozark seems to fit my needs fine. I don't plan on using it for hunting, or any kind or racing/performance/need-for-speed stuff, just strickly playing around, riding trails, and stuff like that.
So does anyone have any info on them? Also, does anyone know if a speedometer or trip meter is available on the Ozark? I didn't see anything on the Suzuki website about it, but in one of the reviews I read on it, the staff said they would have liked to have a speedo and trip odometer, but it was an option. That has been the only place I've seen that mentioned though. Could it be something that is bought at the Suzuki parts counter? I'm not too concerned about the speedo, but would like to have the trip odometer. Thanks. |

It's a nice machine and my Wife really enjoys hers. We have had no problems but in all honesty depending on your weight I would strongly consider the Eiger in the 2 wheel drive with the 5 speed. You will get bored with the Ozark and the suspension is non-adjustable on it as well. The Eiger in 2 wheel drive isn't much higher and will pull extra weight a little easier than the Ozark. As far as handling goes the Ozark is fun and I use hers for hunting and whenever I need a Utility machine but if I was buying a cheaper 2 wheel drive machine for me it would be the Eiger with the extra 100ccs.

I bought an Ozark for my wife this past summer. The machine only has about 12 hours on it, so I can't comment on long term reliabilty yet. This machine is a great value for the money, probably one of the best on the market. I paid $3000 for it plus tax. The machine has decent power for a 250 machine, great handling, nice and light, and overall seems to be well built. The only complaint so far is the shifting is a little stiff, but seems to be getting better with use. I am 5 11 and do not feel too cramped on the machine, however, I wouldn't want it to be any smaller. If you are much taller than that, you will feel cramped on it. The Eiger is also nice machine, but I don't know how much more they retail for. Overall, the Ozark will definetly fill your needs for a fun trail machine and would make a great machine for you to get back into atving. Don't expect to win any drag races with it, but I don't think that is why you are looking at it. |

Thanks for the feedback. I'm 5' 10", 190 lbs (a little more than when I had the 230 in high school 15 years ago. ). I sat on one at the local Suzuki shop, and it didn't seem to small just sitting on it. It actually reminded me of my old 230. Didn't get to ride it though, but that will come when the time to purchase gets closer. I don't want one that's a dog, but I don't need to something that's a rocket ship either, I'll check out the Eiger as well though.
Another concern is my son being able to move up to it sometime down the road. We are getting him a used 2000 80 quadsport from a friend of ours for Christmas, and it will be fine for him for a few years. I'm thinking I'd like to get something that he could move up to when the time comes without being too powerful or too big for him to handle. He's 9 1/2 right now, BTW. Anyone know about the speedo/trip meter availability on the Ozark? Thanks again for the info. |

The ozark is not a dog, but not a power monster either. It is definitely geared pretty low though. The Ozark would definitely make an nice machine for your son to move into in a couple of years. As for the speedodometer, not sure if Suzuki makes one. I think they do. You could also go with a trail tech. Check them out at www.trailtech.net They may not have one specifically listed for the Ozark, but they are all about the same except for the length of the cable. I have one on my 400ex and it is remarkably accurate. |

Thanks. I'll check out the trail tech site.

Yes, I am a Desert Storm vet. I was a gunner on the M3 Bradley. I was in the 1st Infantry division at Ft. Riley. I also did 6 years in the national guard. Been out for a few years now and still don't miss it. I never regret going in or any of it, just don't want to do it again |

Cool pics. I my only regret about Desert Storm is that I didn't take a better camera along. The pics and video footage that I could have taken. Oh well, didn't have any money back then, just a poor pfc.!! |
