160 power?
hi,
i am looking at one of these for trail maintenance, I was wondering how much low end power they have. I currently have an old atc110 three wheeler, I would like something with a little more power and suspension. the 160 is the only quad i have found that is as small as the 110, which is important due to the tightness of my trails (they were designed for my dirt bike)
I mainly want to know if this quad has a low enough 1st gear to allow you to crawl over things and get up small hills

We had the old 160 with racks (new ones don't have racks, and are way lighter). Sold it to a friend, and it is still going strong after all these years. The 160 has a very low 1st gear, so it pulls pretty well on the bottom end. It isn't any powerhouse though!! It does ok out on the trail, but its performance is limited by its minimalist suspension. Remember that it has chain drive, so mud isn't its element, and the balooney tires make it a little tippy. In general, this is considered a bike for older kids.

thanks,
the 110 i'm riding now has no suspension at all! just the tires. size of the 110 is even smaller then the 160, i think it was designed for kids 8-15. in low range though, it pulls my 220lb carcass around pretty good, and it is small enough that i can go down most of my dirtbike trails. i have had it about 5 years, i just want something with a little more power that doesn't beat me so bad.
my dealer says the new ones still have the mounts for the racks, they are kinda steep though, about $400 for front and rear. the dealer has a used 2001 model for sale, it is pretty rough looking, they are asking $1799, I might try and talk him down to $1000

my daughter and wife both ride lt 160s. I had one myself 'til a couple of years ago. This is a great tight trail machine! Most larger utility style machines will have to work hard to stay with it. we've used them to pull small trailers and other atv's, but towing really isn't a strong point due to their light weight. If you need ALOT of low end, you can easily change the gearing. A weak point is the front drum brakes; also ,the stock racks are rather small. you may want to consider aftermarket racks.

how much would a used one be worth? I know of 2:
one is a 2001, the rear tires are bald, like they ran up and down the road alot, it also has a broken front fender. they are asking $1599
there is one on ebay that the guy says he bought for his wife, she didn't like it, and it has only had 4-5 tanks of gas ran through it. it is supposed to be perfect the bid is up to $1275, and the reserve hasn't been met yet.
