Gio 150cc ATV Won't Stay Lit
ATV was running fine. I may have had too much oil in it. It suddenly sputtered and quit. Since then, can only get it running for a few seconds at most, the sputters and quits. This model has no choke. Any suggetions what to check? Thanks!

Check the plug. You may have fouled it.
You can either clean it or replace it. |

You are correct!!! I changed the spark plug and it's now running just fine. It inspired me to fix a cosmetic problem of re-attaching the headlights. Thanks so much. BTW, are the symptons different if the plug fowls or if the ignition coil dies? Let me know what you know. Thanks!

Usually if the coil goes out you get a weak spark and it won't tun at all. You may also want to check the fuel air mixture screw and make sure it is set correctly. It may be causing it to run too rich and fouling the plug. I do not have a clue what the adjustment should be nor am I 100% sure it is carborated.
My snowmachine has a similar issue with fouling plugs. Usually means I have ice built up on my air intake restricting air flow. Fouls the plug and she will quit running until I open up the air restiction and clean or replace the plug. SJ |

Thanks again for the information. I neglected to mention this is a cheap chinese (Giovanni) 150cc ATV . Definitely carborated. I will play with the fuel air mixture screw to see if I can lean it out a bit. I'm in the market to buy a REAL quad. Deciding between 2007/2008 used KingQuad 750, BruteForce 750, or Rubicon 680...any advise? Thanks for everything!!!

Any of those ATV's are fine machines. I am partial to Suzuki ans AC myself. If you live where it gets cold (was -32F here this morning) OR where you will be going above 5000ft elevation then I would look into an EFI (electronic fuel injection).

Thanks again for the advise. I do like all I've read about the Suzuki's. Happy motoring!!!
