Default New to the Forum, DS650 with flat slide 450r carb??

Hey guys Im new here, First its not my quad. Its my buddies.

So hears a tricky question, The quad has a high compression piston, Uni air filter (no air box) and a Flat Slide FCR Carb from a 450r on it. We have a 55 leak, 175 Main, and Air fuel screw is two turns out. Now the quad starts up fine, purrs like a kitten. Though it runs fine at 0-95% throttle every time you give it that extra bit of throttle (the other 5%) it dies! every time, Doesn't matter if its under a load or sitting in the garage, itll die, starts right back up though...so cant decide if we need to adjust the floats? Maybe its sucking the carb dry? or Maybe its opposite, Maybe its overloading the carb?

My buddy has about every jet you can buy from him messing with it for a long time, He finally asked me for help. (I put the 55leak,175main,needles on 3rd clip, and air fuel screw is 2 turns out)

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks guys.

Still no input? I mean I don't ride a DS650, I ride a 2013 crf450r that smokes these things but at least on my Honda forums you get a answer or at least some helpful info.

Admin can delete my profile, I only made one to help out a buddy and hopefully get pointed in the right direction.

Thanks for nothing!

Sorry, I have no clue either. I would think the 450r carb might be a tad on the small side for a 650 though.

Thats kinda what I thought. It is a odd ball carb for the 650. I here of others running dual carbs so I guess the carb is just too small

Ya I borrowed a buddies compression tester so I'm gonna check it tonight when I get home. I put brand new boyesen reeds in it and I did pull them out again and they still looked good. I'm leaning toward choke issue on carb so hoping new carb will cure that.
