Default First time buyer... sport or utility

Hi there my soI'm 18 years old, only have rode twice. I live in Louisiana and ride on muddy, tall grass and through the woods. I drove a friend Foreman 500 with electric shift, and loved it. But all my friends ride bikes. I am now in the market for a new Honda. Either a new Foreman 500 ES or Trx400x, which would be a better choice? Thank you

Don't expect to keep up with bikes on either one if they ride the way most guys do. The Foreman would be better in mud but it's even less likely to keep up than the TRX.

The trx 400 is a lot faster than a foreman 500. You can put mud tires on the back of the trx 400 and go through the mud better, itp makes a tire called the mudlite sp, sp meaning its for sport quads.

If all your buddies are on bikes, get a bike. Or convert then to quads...

Or get a brand that has more horsepower than a Honda. Maybe a used Can-Am Renegade 500. Very quick for a 4wd. My son went through every mud hole we went through with bigger bore machines. It impressed me.

More power is nice but dirt bikes can whip through tight trails better than ATVs because they're narrower. Sometimes I see bikes and quads riding together and most of the time the bikes have to stop at intersections to wait for the quads to catch up. Then they leave them in the dust again.

Its just a totally different experience riding a bike. But a 450cc dirt bike will eat any quad or utv for lunch. Its not even close. Power to weight ratio is unreal for bikes.

If you just want to ride with your friends, get a bike. A conventional ATV, can do a lot that a bike can't do, like haul your gear, haul out a deer/wild boar, tow a trailer. Of course you don't need to plow snow, haha.
