Default New Truck Time.

Traded my 11 Sierra SL 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 4.8 4L60 in for a 17 Dodge Ram SXT (think it’s called Tradesman in the USA)1500 Crew Cab 4x4 5.7 6 Speed. My, what a serious step up in quality, ride, and power.

Love the ride that the rear coils give, the superior comfort from the seats, and sitting up higher.

The straight frame rails are also welcomed, as is all the storage.

It will get a ‘de-salt’ bath come spring, then Krown Rust proofed come summer.

Good looking truck.. 4.8 was a good engine and so is my old 5.3 GM but neither one compares to the newer 5.7 Dodge.Haven's had a chance to ride in one,but heard it's more of a passenger car ride with those coil springs. Don't have to worry about salt down here thank goodness..

Thanks OPT. Traded an 04 Sierra 5.3 with 217,000 trouble free miles for the 11 4.8 which had 119,000 miles on it, but was anemic compared to the 5.3. Needed a little more for towing, and wanted to try something different. The Ram has more rear legroom too.

I have 2, a 2005 Thunder Road QC 4X4 and a 2017 Bighorn QC 4x4. The new one has the ZF 8 speed transmission. The new one is as quick as the 05 that has headers, Vararam, a hot race cam and a 3,000 rpm stall. All with being super quiet and plush. The 05 does good to hit 16.5 mpg, new one has actually got as high as 24 mpg on a tank. I got 22.5 mpg going to Boston in 4x4 in a winter storm 240 miles each way. BTW, my 05 has 265,000 miles, only had to replace a fuel pump and a serpentine belt. Most reliable truck I've ever had! Good Luck with your baby!
