I'm buying 2 new back tires for my Rancher.The stock back tire size is 25x11x10.
On my new tires I want them a little wider but not really taller than stock so the back end wont be jacked up.
I'm thinking of going with ITP 589's since I want a smooth ride on hard pack terrain.I noticed they are 6 ply too while most atx tires are 4 ply.Is that good I know its stronger but...

25x11x10 does that mean 25 is the tallness 11 is the width and 10 is I have no clue?
Somebody help me on this please...

First number = Overall height of the tire
Second number = Width of the wheel
Third number = Diameter of the wheel

On your original wheels you can get bigger sidewall tires that can give you a taller tire and you can get a slightly wider tire to fit the stock wheel but all the tires must fit the wheel diameter size. On your list, only those tires with the last number of '10' will fit your stock wheels.

Almost correct.

25x11x10
25 refers to the height of the tire.
11 refers to the width OF THE TIRE.
10 refers to the diameter of thr RIM.

Almost all 4x4 atv rims are between 6-8in wide depending whether it is a front or back rim and most 4x4 rims are 12in in diameter with a handfull of 10 and 11in dia rims mixed in.

I would go for the 25x12x10 ITP 589s. The diameter of the tire will be the same so it won't effect your gearing but will give you a one inch wider tire and put more tread on the ground.

I purchased a set of 26x10x12 front, 26x12x12 rears Mudlites for way less than the websight listed them for so you should e-mail him and tell him RichL35 sent you. The price that he gave me for the mudlites delivered to my door is less than anyone else even had them listed for. And I looked.

The 6 ply will give you a little more puncture resistance... and a little more weight... You might also consider aftermarket lighter wheels to offset the weight gain...

 

Who in the world told you 589s ride smooth? Thats simply not the case, they ride rough as hell on hard pack. Get mudlites if you want a smooth ride and mud traction. I picked the tire size you need.

I beleave you though if you know from personal experiances.
One thing I forgot to throw in is that I have to ride on the pavement alot to get to the trails around my house.I would hate to ruin these tires if I get the Mudlites.Is the rubber hard or softish?

They also say the Mudlites are smooth too.Just looks like the 589's would last longer duno though.

Holly crap I went to order the Mudlites and they dont come in a 25x12x10 but the 589's do WTF!!!

Is your Rancher a 4X4???? If so, you can't change the rear tire height, without making the same change in front, or it will bind up the 4wd! As I recall, the stock tires on the 4X4 are 24"??? You run 25" in back and a 24" in front, and you are going to have problems.

I run ITP Holeshot ATR's on ITP 12X7" (light!) aluminum rims, and it is a whole different mahine from stock!!!
