Lo Jack For Atv's

Hello Folks, I Would Like To Know If There Is Something Like Lo jack For Atv's, I've Seen Some Devices That Claim To Find Your Stolen ATV, But So Far I'm Not Impressed, My Yamaha Was Stolen From A Hunting Camp In Alabama, I Know Thousands Of Motorcycles And Atv;s Are Stolen Every Year, I Had One Stolen Before Only This Time They Got My Travel Trailer To ! I Really Really Want To Find The People Who Did This, Unfourtunly The Cops Were Not Much Help, It Just Seems That A Device Could Be Installed Like Lo Jack Inexpensively . I'm Still Looking For Something Like This, I May Start Working On Something Myself, It Can't Be That Hard, And I'm Sick Of Losing My Stuff To Thieves,

Good Riding

Hey man just a thought but why cant you use the automotive one. Even if its big lots of times that is just caseing that you could modify and make smaller.

Where are you going to install it? I haven't seen a lo-jack device in several years but the last one I saw was quite large. The thing was small enough that you could hide the thing about anywhere inside the vehicle but it was still pretty large. Even if they were now half the size of the one I saw I don't think it would be hard to see in an ATV. One would have to get the size down to a very small form factor or it could be found pretty quickly and tossed inside the nearest southbound freight car. Plus you have all the power and antenna issues that would be more complicated for an ATV vs. a car.

The lo-jack system is used in the area I live in. Like Capt. said, on an atv, it is pretty big and would be on the next south bound freight train. One of the other things you need to consider to is, does you local law enforcement have the retrieving system to track the lo-jack system? If, they don't it won't work for you. In our area, all the major agencies have their patrol cars outfitted with the equipment. But, if you area isn't or the area where your quad was stolen from doesn't have the system up and running, you might as well save your money. JMHO

Hea Folks, Yeah All Good Points, It Just Seems That If I Thought Of It Someone Else Has To, I Looked Up Some Small Tracking Devices Here On The Net, They Seem To Be Small Enough But You've Still Got The Antenna That Has To Be Mounted In The Seat And Pointing Upward, The Place That My Stuff Was Taken Is A Very Small Town, So I Doubt That They Would Have The Equipment, Anyway I'm Going To Stay On It I'm Sure There's Something Out There That Will Work,

Happy Trails Abd Thanks To Everyone For Your Replys,

ok, i'll tell ya what you do. Aircraft tracking beacons are installed in the seat of fighter jets. now these jets need to be able to carry enough firepower to fight so everything is made as small and as light as possible. these beacons are smaller than car ones the casing is the big part cause the actual device is surrounded by padding due to the fact that it is in the seat that ejects from the aircraft. if you have the resources,or you can just get it done, your golden.

get those thieves i hate 'em!!!!!
