Default ATV Event - What's it take?

Does anyone have any experience in coordinating an ATV event? How would one get something like this started? I would like to see events like mudding, pull offs, drag racing, etc. Public interest shouldn't be a problem here in Alaska due to the many many ATVers and the states extreme outdoor frenzy so what would be the biggest challenge to pull something like this off? Is this something that I should go all out and try or start small through our ATV club?

If this is to much what have your local ATV clubs put on as far as shootouts? Our club keeps growing and growing and we all have a friendly competive sprit so instead of everyone talking the walk I would like to put a few challenges together to give everyone the chance to prove themselves. Any suggestions?

Our motorcycle club puts on two dirt and one road event per year. You need insurance in case someone gets hurt and sues. It is not always the rider who sues but could be survivors in case of serious accid. We go thru the American Motorcyclist Assoc. Your club needs to be sanctioned by AMA but that is easy to get. Works for 2-wheelers so don't see why won't work for 4.
Some small events are held where membership in promoting club is required and then they skip the insurance.

A lot of Tylenol. Even more prep time. And one Hell of a personality! We're in the early stages of planning for our 2nd event. I was on the fringe, for the first one. Directly involved in this one. I'll get w/ my bud, and get some of the details from him. You are going to HAVE to have an Ins. carrier, for starters.
