Bruin with 27" 589's

I just thought I would share this. I always stop at the dealer where I bought my big bear every time i'm in the neighborhood. Well I pretty much stop at all motorcycle dealers when I have time, but I frequent this one allot.

This dealer has many yamaha's and polaris's with aftermarket parts installed in there show room. While talking to the parts guy I noticed a new Bruin with 27" 589's and Black Type 4's. It looked really good but I was thinking to myself what the hell were they thinking putting those heavy tires on a 350 (ie warranty issue). I asked the parts guy whose idea was it kinda joking around he said lauging the bruin will have no problem turning those tires.

I guess my warranty with all my mods are good untill 2006.... If they bitch i will just mention the showroom to the service mgr.

merry christmas ya'll,

Wow,

I am yet to ride a bruin, but 27 inch tires. That just seems excessive. I wouldn't go bigger than 25's on a 350 ever.

Most definatly not. If you get in a hairy situation you won't have low range to bail you out. Stick with 25's besides your only gaining 1 inch of actuall ground clearance.

Wow those would slow you down alot and you would hardly spin them in the mud.

You never know. I suppose it would depend on the rider, terrain etc. I just thougth I was puhing it on my 400cc with 27" ML's but a 350cc w 589's I thought was a little much. I would asked to test drive but the dealer only has concrete and no place with dirt or grass to check it out.

I think for basic trails you wouldn't have a problem, then again why would you need 27's for basic trails? It be like the guy who takes a 1/2 ton truck and lifts it to the sky with 44inchers on it, without upgradeing gears and axles. Looking cool isn't as important as useable function.

Well put quadduck.

Bigbear, I can see 27'' ML's on a 400, but there is a significant wieght difference between the ML and the 589's, especially if they are the titan's vs the itp's. I know my wolverine is geared higher than most 350's but as far as 589's are concerned anything over 25'' without low range is a waste of money because you won't be able to turn them in the tough stuff.

MNWolverine you also have the advantage of being able to select gears.

good point, I wasn't thinking about the fact that the bruin is fully auto.
