my dad is getting a 4x4 for the family to use. he wants to get a used honda 300 or something small like that. my question is what would ia hve to do to make it float? ive heard of guys putting basketballs under the racks and stuff.
this may sound wierd but a couple of guys with argo's made some nice trails but they go over creaks and stuff.

Might be a little fraaky doing that. Even if it does float it wont be at the top of the water. Some of the quad will be underwater and it could be reallly easy to get some in the airbox. Even if you did get it to float nicely, I would look for a snorkle, seal up the engine, and probalbnly flush every fluid (oil, tranny fluid, ect.) a couple times after every ride.

No matter how well you think your flotation device is, water will find it's way into the intake and/or exhaust probably sooner than later and cause potentially serious problems. Not even going to begin to mention the havoc it will wreak on your drums, bearings, differentials, etc. I know from first-hand experience.
