Grizz 660 or Sportsman 700?
I need to decide here very soon which to buy. one is a 2005 Grizzley 660 with 90hrs on it, aftermarket tires and a winch, he wants $6,400
or
a 2004 Sportsman 700 twin with 50hrs, all stock except for some big ITP tires, he wants $5,200
Lets here some pro's and cons of these two machines. Right now I'm leaning towards the Polaris but I'm looking for some suggestions!

I would lean towards the Grizz. I see you are in Alaska. If you ever ride alone, you will appreciate the recoil backup starter. The Polaris does not have a way to start it if you should run the battery down.
There are also some annoying things about the Polaris. Going down steep hills, you will only have engine braking on the rear wheels. Also, I believe the '04 does not have a fuel gauge. On the plus side, the ride is very plush.
$6400 seems a little steep though. It could be the premium you have to pay for living in Alaska, but down here, you can pickup a new 2006 Grizz for $6194. Of course, that does not include aftermarket tires or a winch.
I was going to put a link to the place that had the Grizzlies for that, but the link button isn't working. Just copy and paste this: http://www.abernathycycles.com/

Yes unfortunaltley living in Kodiak AK (island) atv's are marked up quite a bit, I know the guy who ownes the Grizz pretty well and know that he tends to take really good care of his stuff. The Grizz has about 6 months left on the waranty and I may be able to extend it once it's transferred. the Polaris is owned by an older gent who mainly used it for scouting hunting trips, it has 400 miles on it and does have the fuel guage! He said he babied it and by the looks of this guy I believe him. I have $7,200 to spend total. But again being here in Kodiak that doesent get you much (I BELIEVE THE 06-07 SP's 700-800 are selling for $8,500-9,500)thats alot of coin no matter where you are. I'm going to the dealer tommorrow and have a pocket full of cash who knows maybe something can be worked out although he sells mostly Polaris ATV's.

Hey, get the 700 man, no question, Grizzly's are great ATV's but they havnt changed at all, so even if it was an '06 Grizz, it would be the same as an '05 and yes the '04 700 has the fuel guage. If its in as good of shape as you say its in, then yes, you will love it, and it is a great deal, and who knows, you could turn out to be one of us, "polaris lovers".

My buddy has an '03 700. It does not have a fuel gauge. I guess they put them on for '04. My bad.
Serious question though: Are you concerned at all about what you would do if the battery ran down for some reason? Do you carry a spare battery or maybe one of those portable rechargable battery jumper like below?
