Default Radiator/Coolant Question

well i went ahead and spent the $30 to buy engine ice and get it shipped here. then i find out that i shouldnt run it in the winter, good thing i didnt put it in. so today i went to the hardware store and bought their best product, which was a high-performace coolant/antifreeze. i used a 70/30 ratio mixture instead of the normal 50/50 to try and achieve their -84oF freeze point and 176oF boilover point. just wondering 1st off if that was a smart move or not. didnt say anything in the manual not to use 70/30 and the bottle said not to use less than 50/50 or more than 70/30. so i flushed my system and put my new mixture in.

i drained the reservoir also and see that no coolant is in there after i filled it. should i fill that myself manually or will the system fill it. if im supposed to fill it manually should i fill it to full cold or full hot. thanks for any help.

You will be fine with your 70/30 mix. Just remember that you won't have as much freeze portection.
You should manually put your mix in the reservoir to make sure it does not freeze. Fill it to the cold line.

Default Radiator/Coolant Question

He put 70% antifreeze and 30% water, so his freeze protection will be better than 50-50

Thanks v2rider, I read that wrong.
Advice still holds. The only thing is, it won't cool as well. The more antifreeze you add to the mix the less heat dispersion you will have. In other words, 100% antifreeze won't cool at good as a 50/50 mix. A 50/50 mix won't cool as good as straight water.....................etc.
