Hello,
I am in the market for a new winch for my new 700 GRIZZLY. I was looking at the NEW! VENOM 3000LB ATV WINCH PKG. 2007 YAMAHA 700 GRIZZLY from e-bay. Can anyone tell me if the venom winch are any good...? What are other good winchs and maybe the URL were I can buy them from.
Thanks for your time ones again.

There have been some posts about problems with venom winches on older threads, but I don't have personal experience with them. I am happy with my superwinch model ATV 3000, Installation Photos Here.
Specifications Here
Here's one for $289.95
Note the 1.1 HP motor on this unit is more powerful than most other 3,000 pound winches, some costing even more. The significance is those rated the same capacity, but having a less powerful motor, require more gear reduction to acheive the rating. The result is a lower line speed, measured in feet per minute, pulling a given weight.

I wanted a venom and researched the hell out of winches - I didnt want to spend 400 bucks on a winch but after all the research I did, I went with the Warn XT25. Sometimes you just have to spend the extra. Sell some crap you dont use any more on Ebay and buy a warn - you will be happy you did

Yeah, the mounting is pretty standard and it should bolt right up to most mount plates. You will need a mount plate specific for your machine, however.
I went with a Warn mount plate on the Foreman, but on the Rincon I used a KFI mount plate after reading some positive on line reviews. It is at least as nice as the Warn, and much cheaper. They often have them on e-bay, or direct from their site.

all winches will have their issues if you don't use them right... 1 guy I rode w/ said he's gone thru 5 winches... Several different models, to include the warn and venom... We asked if he thought maybe it was the rider and not the winch... lol
Honestly... (and if someone can say different I'd really like to hear it) Any winch you buy will probably last longer with a synthetic rope over the standard cable... Just seems like they don't bind up as easy, easier to clean and maintain... Thoughts?
