Cool I can't choose which atv to get. I'm Stuck!

Ok well i have no idea wether to get a sport or utility, they both fit in where i live. Which is in Western New York Suburbs. I like power speed and like to ride through snow, some mud, but not a whole lot. But i am mostly concerned with reliability. But if you had to choose one sport and one utility what would you choose?

UTILITY:
2008 Honda Rancher 420 4X4

SPORT:
2009 Honda TRX250x - or ex 2008 version
2009 Honda TRX300x - or ex 2008 version

I would choose which ever one most of my friends ride. Not much fun riding with a 4X with the sport crowd and not much fun riding a sport machine with the 4X crowd.

You can always split the difference and get something like an Outlander the hauls a$$ and you can switch to 4X when you need it.

Neither type of machine is going to be ideal in all circumstances but a 4x4 will go places the 4x2 sport can't. All of my ATVs have been 4x4 except for one and it was a bit of a disappointment. If I was getting a new one I would get a Sportsman XP.

Or you could go with an all in one, like a yamaha wolverine 450,polaris scrambler 500,arctic cat crossover 450,or even a can am outlander 400(or bigger),they are a little bit more of a ute,but has good high performance and sport feel to them. These all have selectable 2wd -4wd features. The only one that comes with racks is the outlander, but you can get racks for the others i believe. If not any of these,as mentioned already,go with what your friends have. All my friends had sport while i had a ute,and ALL of them switched to the ute.Oh, the other thing is that the sport/utility dont have low range. I dont think anyways.

CanAm Renegade 500. Best of both worlds. With the right tires it can be a great mud machine as it has 4wd available. Fastest automatic transmission quad in a 4x4 in the 500 class. Very light and nimble compared to the average utility. Nice mix. My son wanted a sporty quad with 4x4. That kind of limited us to the Yamaha Wolverine (slowest), Polaris Scrambler (middle of the pack speed with old in the teeth design) and the Renegade (kind of weak frame but a real performer). We went with the Renegade and got a frame insert to strengthen the frame and got fender flares for better rider protection from the elements. Get fantastic fuel mileage too.

Maybe you should look into a Can-Am Renegade 500. It has the look and style of a sport quad, as well as the torque to hang with them, as well as the ability to lock in 4WD and independent rear suspension. It was the 2010 ATV of the year in ATV Magazine because it is such a jack of all trades. It comes in a 800 or 1000 flavor too if you're looking to spend some $.
