No it doesn't take 5 quarts.. It takes 5.5 quarts. At least by the manual.May take a tad less.. You can use any good synthetic oil suitable for atvs and motorcycles. 0w40,5w40,5w50,etc. NO car oil as it can cause the clutch plates to slip. This oil will say "energy conserving" and has friction modifiers to help on mileage, but plays the devil with some clutch plates on motor cycles and some atvs.

I had the engine rebuilt two winters ago, did the transmission job last winter and it looks like I am tearing back into it again. Any suggestions as to what I need to replace? I got a lot of help last time from a user name PolarisTech. He is a whole lot of information bundled up into one man. I can hold the shifter into reverse and keep it from popping out of gear but I feel clicks. Almost like something is jacked up internally. Any advice is welcome.
Can you tell me what you did to fix it?

Default Polaris xplorer 300 4x4.

Hello, I just bought a Polaris xplorer 300 4x4. The pass owner said that it is a 2008. When I look it up, the pictures that I'm seeing that looks my Polaris xplorer is saying years like 1998-2001 ext. I looked on the frame for the date but I can't make anything out on the sticker. What I can make out is stamped on the frame *3010858*
If anyone can help with any and all information, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
