Default 250 cuts out under load

Alright not very familiar with that cats I'm more of a sport qaud guy but looking at my dad 250 for him after been sitting for a while. But new battery in it cleaned the carb adjusted the float and all that good stuff, started right up idles fine and revs up fine in neutral but when I put it in gear and take it out for a ride it cuts out and burps as soon as I hit half throttle an above. Any suggestions? I'm stumped. Thanks in advance

When I had a four stroke bike and it was jetted to high mine had that problem. I jetted it down and it worked better.

That's machine specific, but anything under 100psi and I'd be worried...
