Hello all! I'm new to the forum but am a long time atv enthusiast. Recently I had little to do at work and decided to search for "the rarest race quads ever made." My search led me to learn about a company called Tiger that was based out of MN in the mid 80's. They made 3 wheelers for many years until they were outlawed and then made a four wheeler called the Super 4 for one year. Its unknown how many survive, but I immediately recognized the machine since a friend has one in his barn. We pulled it out last night and took inventory of what he has. Absolutely amazing to see something so rare that we had disregarded for so long. Anyone here know about these machines or any good sources for parts? Thanks everyone!

WOW! Supposedly only 5 made it out...if true, that is one rare quad!! Hope you have deep pockets...restoring rarity is not done on a shoe-string budget...

 

Yeah, I figured a full showroom restore would be out of my reach. I've been in contact with the gentleman who runs the Tiger Rotax site and the numbers he was throwing around for the resto he did made my head spin! You can definitely see the quality in the job he did though. Unfortunately he has since retired from vintage ATV restoration.

 

Yeah that's a tough one...costs too much to restore and there must be a very limited (and I mean VERY) consumer base if you wanted to part it out...but, you may get lucky and find that special someone that just has to have it!!!!

Nice being able to zoom in on the pics.. The engine looks like the rotary valve that was in my 1979 CanAm 250 MX.. That should be fairly reasonable to rebuild.. The rest.. Not on my budget either..

I wonder what that does for Suzuki's claim of "first on 4 wheels"?
Who was first?

 

Doesn't seem to hurt Suzuki's claim of being first in the commercial market 4 wheeler although Wikipedia shows that the military had them in the 60's and 70's.
"Four-wheelers (1985-today) Suzuki was a leader in the development of four-wheeled ATVs. It sold the first model, the "1982 QuadRunner LT125", which was a recreational machine for beginners. Suzuki sold the first four-wheeled mini ATV, the LT50, from 1984 to 1987.
All-terrain vehicle - Wikipedia" I bought my son the first year model LT50 for 700 bucks.They even mailed me a brass Suzuki plate showing Quadrunners and a temperature strip at the bottom. Still have it some where around the house.Looks like this. Commemorates Suzuki and the 84 Olympics.
