Hey is anyone going to be going down for riding/hunting the last weekend of October? I dont plan to hunt but I do plan to camp with some friends who are hunting and I plan to do A LOT of riding. Anyone else going?

Thanks for reminding me...I had totally forgotten about that. I never have been much of a hunter but I do have some clothing with the reversible Orange lining for that purpose. Thanks I had forgotten about that.

Words of advice...dont buy the cheapo orange vests from WalMart as they fell apart after 2-3 rides. And I do beleive its law to have orange on your head too. What a waste of money for us non hunters.

Just got in last night from a really good two day ride in the Little River area of Honobia Creek. My friends were there for hunting but I managed to talk them into doing some good riding as well. Put 93 miles on in 2 days...not a whole lot but more than I usually do when I am down there (I am somewhat prone to sitting around the camp and spinning a few embellished yarns). We had about 5 or 6 good rides the river was low so we could cross in a lot of places. I can wholeheartedly recommend this area (North out of Rattan OK to the Honobia Creek management Area)

Well we always go a little past the tiny town of "Cloudy" and then turn north on a logging road designated as 88,000 and find a place to camp on one of the many logging roads that branch off of this main road. There are a lot of very primative campsites there but this being deer season there are a lot of campers too. But if you stay close to 88000 or one of the roads that branch off of it you will find good riding, good camping and the fishing LOOKS great but I have not caught anything besides pearch there in a while. Hope this helps.

Bob,
You should have been there for the whole trip. We had camp set-up by about 2:00 pm on thusday and were riding by 2:30. There were about 5 of us riding, some experienced riders and some first timers, but a good time was had by all.
Most of us are primarily hunters but I seem to spend more and more time in the saddle. And that's OK. Riding and camping are a very close second in anyones book. I can't wait to get back into the woods.
If TexMud or anyone else needs info or directions to that part of the state ( my favorite riding area) they can email me here.
Give me a yell when you have a few days off and we'll hit the trails again.
