Mac, yes we are... Me and "You want to come in second" Bill, are goin' with some of our other riders. Man, I hope the gas prices drop before then but if not, that won't stop us. Some of us have to travel from the Detroit, Down River Area. Normally a five hour trip to the U.P. We'll all be sporting atv's so I don't think we're going to count on getting there in five hours. But looking forward to riding, drinking a little pop and telling lies with the rest of the UP's... Hope to see you there.
What do you say, Bill?

Sounds like fun, unfortunately I will be at the Wolf's Head motorcycle rally in Two Harbors, MN.

Decisions, decisions....

MACM 07-06-2000 09:20 PM

Mac, are you going to make it? I'm going to talk to my riding buddy, and see if he wants to go that weekend. I think that would be a good time. Where is the Forest trail that you where talking about. I'm fast running out of places to ride up here. Tried to go from gwinn to chatam last weekend on the snowmobile trail, but there where to many gates up. mostl road riding and thats not a lot of fun, I need the mud.

Sorry I won't be able to make the Poker run on July 15. but I hope to ride there this Sep.

The Forest Island trail is 20 miles south of Escanaba on M-35. If you want to ride onthe next Friday 14th I can make it. I have to work the 15th thru 20th. I plan on riding with jack from Norway on the 22nd somewhere. Hope to hear from him soon so I can plan to ride.

Mac, too bad you can't make the trip on the 15th. Bill and I with five other riders will be smokin' the trails for four days in the U.P. in 80 plus temps. It's supposed to be a great and hot weekend. I think we'll be able to find some water to cool off, with out any problems. We'll take pictures. I just need to talk to some of our friends to see who can scan the pictures in.
Have a great weekend everyone.

See you guys in the morning.

Thor 07-14-2000 04:14 PM

Have fun guys. Don't roost Bill too much.

Bill.Ciliberti 07-16-2000 06:02 PM

kcbender,
well how'd you guys do at the Casino?I hope you did'nt blow all your Poker run winnings at the Casino.Chuck [he took second place] ran a tab for all eight of us in our group.Great guy.

I had a great time.I was hoping you guys could of stood Saturday night to.You guys ought to be ashamed of yourselves, riding the Highway most of the time instead of the trails. But,you did finish the event so thats all thats counts.

I still see my butt at the top of the Hotel staircase when Scott entered late at night saying,''RICH''.I loved my response to him.[Yah,I got some money, but you aint getting it]Hey,that was great the way I got you guys the room that late at night.Quad Father members deserve only the best.

Say hi to all=====Bill

Bill.Ciliberti 07-16-2000 06:41 PM

We had an pretty good time.We wound up putting on 235 miles in two and a half days of riding.I was a little disappointed in my room though.Never in my life have I ever been to a motel without a TV in it.The food was excellant, the cook Brain did a great job to.Gail our waitress also did a nice job.Audrey [the manager]made sure us boys behaved ourselves. She was fun to.

Barry and myself were the first ones to arrive at the Motel Thursday afternoon. We road for about 40 miles and ran back to see if the rest of the boys had got in yet. They did.We saddled up again and went riding. We crossed some pretty shakey bridges.[these guys allways make me go first]Everyone made it across ok.We come upon a trail on our way to Newberry Mi.A tree was up rooted across our path so I decided to go into a swamp and around it.BAD CHOICE.I got stuck and Chuck pulled me out before things got worse.

Friday morning, eight of us had decided to start the Poker run.We had road and got eight of the ten poker run stamps needed for the entire run.

Saturday morning,we only had two stamps left to get, they were at Trout Lake.I thought that we had it made with only needing two more stamps, boy was I wrong. That Trout Lk trail near the power lines was bumpier than hell.I could;nt wait to exit it and get to Trout Lk.Dewayne had gotton his Warrior VERY stuck. It was more trouble than it had looked to get him out,but I did finally get him out.He was buried in some pretty nasty stuff. My Mud runners were digging in HARD.

ALL in ALL?I had a nice time,I was hoping to see more hills though.I probably wont be staying at the same motel if I return next yr.Not having a TV in your room is as primitive as Gilligans Island.I was also hoping for a bigger turnout of quads.Breakfast for these poker runs needs to start earlier than 8am to.Maybe next yrs runs will have more riders in it.They are talking about increasing the size of the run to maybe twelve stops instead of ten.Thats a lot of stops if your trying to make it in one day. Some of the riders took the State Highways instead of the trails.Im glad the DNR did'nt see them.Would I do this again?Probably.====Bill

Sorry, Bill! I posted my results on the Suzuki Forum, under jester's, post "King Quad Tips". But I agree with you. It was a good time and I also hope more guys come next time 'cause I'd like to go back. But I hope Rich sees this post that you've made so he can figure out how to make it even more enjoyable next year.
PS. You didn't have to mention, you got stuck...

Bill, Would you please hush up about running the roads if the DNR finds me there goes the $$ I won from you.

Saturday night I paid for the room at the Soo and we all were winners at the Casino.

We also had TV at the hotel but when we tried to use the pool and hot tub we could not because someone S--- in the Pool.

Later the Road Runner
