Michigan's Quaditarod ATV Trail. Beginning just north of the Mackinaw Bridge near the town of Moran, a fully marked trail system traversing 7 counties finally arriving in the town of Marenisco not far from Wisconsin border. Taking an average of 4 days, it brings riders in touch with the U P's natural beauty and abundant wildlife that leaves you looking for what might come aound the next corner. State Forest Campgrounds provide a scenic campsite, small family owned motels for the less rugged, (where your quad is parked at your door ), enables this trail experience to fit anyone's recreational comforts. Occasionally trips are described where riders go from Cut River Bridge to Trout Lake to Hulbert to Paradise and so on. I have often wished U P savvy riders would link up their ride areas into a network where a coast to coast trail could be mapped out with info on gas/food/motel like our winter counterparts. Right now, as far as I know, it still does not exist.

Hey I totally agree with you circuit... I love riding in the UP on my sled because there is so much to see... Cant imagine how nice it would be able to ride all over up there from town to town on the quds... That trail you were talking about is that availible to ride on now or is that some thing in the works. If it is open can u ride up to the hotel rooms? Or do U have to schedule camping/lodging ahead and trailer them back and forth from the trails. Thanks in advance...

Unfortunately, The Quaditarod Trail is just an imaginary trail, (hopefully) waiting to become reality. ATV versions of Snowmobile trail maps with approved routes/accomodations is just what is needed. I think it is a matter of putting it together. As each county adopts its ATV Ordinance- could they issue a map highlighting approved trails? Businesses on ATV trails could fund maps. DNR provides ATV trail maps for individual trails, could they take a look at U P as a whole and designate a long distance route?

Circuit, I think the only reason that there are so many trails up there for sleds is the fast that alot of land or connecting trails are donated by land owners and they dont mind it because there arent any tires to tear up the land as bad as quads would. I think if they are presented to the land owners that we are just up there to ride and not ruin anything we could possibly get something up there but until then we'll have to wait.
