I was planning a trip in July to Attica and the Badlands and then I talk to a guy in Detroit and he was telling me about a place called Silver Lake. I have never been to either place and was wanting some advice on where to go. Pros / Cons of each ?

The Badlands in Indiana has all kinds of terrain to ride. They have hardpack hill climbs, woods trails, sand (not dune-like sand tho), creek riding, mud pits, and it is 800 acres. The only requirements here is a flag and a helmet. Costs $15 a day. Good riding!

Silver Lake is in Michigan and is nothing but sand dunes (if you are looking for good soft sand riding then this is the place to go). It is white beach-like sand. It is 450 - 500 acres. You must have a spark arrestor and they have a noise law... 94 dbs. They also require a flag and a helmet. Cost about $14 total a day for riding fee and parking fee.

There is about 10 - 12 of us going to the Badlands this Saturday (6/15/02). Can you possibly make it this weekend?

Man I wish I could go this weekend, but Vacation doesn't start until July 12th. I'm going to be off for two weeks and just talked to my cousin few minutes ago and although it will be alot of driving I think we are going to hit both. 7-8 hours to Attica ride a few days and then something like 6 hours to Silver lake ride a few days and then about 10-11 hours back to WV.

Lets see thats like 24 hours of driving. DAMN this ATVing its like a drug once you get it in your veins you want more, you crave more, you need more.

And by God I wouldn't have it any other way!!!!

Thanks for the advice though.

Silver Lake is getting to be to much of a hassle anymore. I rarely go there since I discovered 'The Badlands'.

Here's their webpages: The Badlands & Silver Lake
