Best paddles for YFZ...

My YFZ is still on the first tank of gas and I can't wait to hit the dunes. Which paddles are essential for the YFZ? Will be hitting Coos Bay the weekend after Labor Day.

I threw on a set of Sand Sharks (angled paddles) that I had laying around and did a dune trip in Oregon. They seemed to work pretty good overall. I haven't heard many comments yet about the prefered paddle set up for the YFZ. I'll probably get a different type as the Sand Sharks a pretty hard tire.

Well this is just my opinion, but the preferred paddle for anything is a STRAIT PADDLE. None of this gecko or sand shark crap. From expierence, cheap paddles such as Sand Devils work much better than any angled paddle. I have a pretty bulit shee, and only had 20x10 sand sharks with 8 paddles, and it didnt affect me at all when eating other people in drags. But Sand Devils are a really cheap way to get out to the dunes with paddles. From DennisKirk.com, they are about 39 bucks a piece, and with the money u save, u can get a sand front tires. They are also cheap at 29 a piece. But Ive never ridden with the skat trak haulers or anything, but the devils worked great for me. Even after doin tons of clutch drops on the gravel.

If you want to most out of your YFZ then I would ONLY suggest 22/11/8 triple buffs 7 paddle.

Bigger.

If you want to play & drag race. Sand skate 1's competition cut are the best in my opinion. There the best all around tire. I ran the tripple
buffs on mine, And there only good for drags. But they did hook up like no other paddle.

Consider all options/brands. And get as many "opinions" as you can so you can make a good decision. There's been testing done on angled Vs straight paddles and the difference was found to be "very minimal". If all you do go straight (drag racing/hill shooting) then by all means get straight paddles. Straights are a little harder to slide under power, whereas the angled type tend to slide better when turning. I have the Sand Skate II's on my Banshee and my 250R and they work excellent.

There are pros and cons to both straight and angled paddles, straight ones are meant for drags while angled ones would do better in turning and such.

22x11x8 haulers! I run an 8 paddle, but the skat traks are the best. If you go with just regular haulers and not the double and triple buffs if you tear a paddle skat trak can put anew one on for about $8. Go with some cheaper fronts, I have GBC dunestreakers(smooth) on mine they work great. Sister in law has the rimmed GBC and they too work great! Most importantly though run that 450 some more so when you go to the sand you don't have to baby it!
