hi,

i'm new on the forum but not new on the sport of riding atv's. but what do you people think of the raptor 660r? i'm looking for power, a good performance engine, and some nice top end speed, i've been looking at the trx400ex (honda) and i know they have good engines but the design of the 660 raptor is NICE! so how does the raptor perform? give me full detail, so what i'm saying is honda or yamaha?

btw: will the raptor's design of the body frame change at all over the years? i hope it doesn't

thanks alot

Yamaha! all the way.
My Raptor gives me the best of everything.
Great in the trails, plenty of low end torque for the real technical stuff.
Outstanding in the mud. If you get stuck you're not riding hard enough!
The motor is a low compression corked up 660cc, which means there is a lot of room to customize if you choose to do so.
I think the guys out west can attest to how capable of a hill climber it is.

No competition there .. Raptor

More powerful, better looking, has reverse ...

Honda is a wicked good manufacturer, but I know what my personal choise would be .. the Warrior's BIG brother

alrighty i think i know what i'm getting now, i just hope you guys aren't bull craping me,,,i like honda and my friend has a trx300ex, which he can't get past like 4 gear b/c it goes so fast, so what you are saying is that i can smoke him with a 660 b/c its like 2 times the power?

thats cool

Can't get a 300ex past 4th cuz it's so fast? A raptor would fly right by that 300ex....

I read a post of 300ex's only having 19hp. The raptor is stated as having in the neighborhood of 37hp with all the corks in. Not even in the same field in my opinion. 300 are fun, but no where near as fun as the Raptors.

yeah dude we are 16, and we go on like a motocross track, you know, like all the jumps bank turns and some straight aways,, and i told him to try short shifting but he does want to b/c it will take a while to get up to speed

but any ways, is the 660 like good or are you just saying this? i know it looks sweet, but,, hmmmm does it have nice speed? reliable engine? smooth shifting shifter? easy pull clutch?

thanks alot

btw: my friend is new at the sport and he doesn't no fast but it has torque,,,,,,, alright stop with the honda now alrighty, corks? what are those,,,,, i never heard of those, but now i sound stupid,,,,, lol asking is like learning,, alrighty,, so how do i put all the corks in? or what ever

Hey kids... My buddies 300EX is too fast in fourth gear. I want a raptor!

Anyone seeing a problem here?

extremerider2811: A 300EX topped out in fourth gear is what, 35-40 MPH for that small, short geared motor?

A Raptor will probably do 35-40 somewhere in the MIDDLE of third gear.

Im not sure a Raptor is for you.

I don't think the 300EX makes near 19hp .. not stock anyway. If it did, they would chew a warrior up and spit them out again. Stock Warrior is only around 18hp .. not sure if that's rwhp or flywheel hp.
