Blown Raptor, what should i do to it while i'm working on it........

I blew my raptor up, haven't had a chance to tear it down and see how bad it is yet, but my question is what should i look at putting in it while i have it apart, I'll need a new piston off the bat i know that, what does anyone suggest? trinny has a JE piston for 239.99 anyone have one of those? also should change out the stock valves? and as far as a new cam goes would that make a huge difference? I mostly race my rappy up hills at the coast and it's strickly a sand bike. But i still want to be able to ride around and trail ride some. what does anyone suggest I do?

$ 239.00 I hope thats a gold plated piston. Does that include the gaskets? Thats a tad steep
You might aswell go 686 while you have it apart your going too need a good hone anyway depending on how your cyclinder wall looks.

The cam and piston kind of complement each other I would do it at the same time you allready are going to have to take it apart might aswell save yourself some trouble.

Maybe do a 12:1 JE piston, stage 2 hotcam + springs and port the head. You would have a pretty fast bike with those mods cuz I was the fastest 4stroke out at comp (while I was there) on duneitt's bike and yours would be faster than his with those mods. This is the set-up Im going to go with when I get the money, and ext. your swingarm while your blowin the bucks

naw why extent the swing arm, then it dosen't look like a stock bike "sleeper" is what i'm going for....... whats funny as hell is that my friend has a STOCK banshee pipes and everything and it eats any 4 stroke alive out there........ it's funny as hell

www.jepistons.com will sell you the piston for $150. www.hotcamsinc.com will sell you the cam direct for $150. Better dig in the engine before thinking about purchasing anything though...you may have more too buy than you think. How did it "blow up"? Excessive hours on the engine?

i was racing a buncha other bikes we started off i was in 2nd gear i shifted to 3rd and gave it the gas, it went for about 1.5 seconds then just went blahhhhhh and it won't start.... the starters working, you can hold the starter down fearther the clutch and the tires move, but it has VERY little compresion when you take the plug out and put your hand over the sparkplug hole.... so untill i pull it apart, wich will be my first shot at that sorta thing, i can't tell you exactly whats broke....... I'd take it to the shop, but i think thats why it's where it is now....... and i can't afford another $300 labor bill.........

Get a maintenance manual and with a little mechanical ability you will be set. The punk thats been working on your quad probably knows less than you do about maintaining your quad. If you need help, post a message for all too see or PM me. Good luck.

just pulled it apart and one of the exaust valves was broke it's stuck in the up position and the bottom of the rocker arm is broken off, would this hurt my piston? or anything else? or will i just need to replace the valve springs...... when the shop put it back togeather it made a ticking sound, i think that was the pistin hitting the valve because they never put something back togeather right..... so i might take it back to them and if theres a make on that valve where it was rubbing then i'm going to make them fix it........

Raptortranny.com will walk you through the tear down and rebuild of your motor. With that website you can do anything to your quad yourself. A bent/broke valve may or may not have injured the piston. You have to remove the head to do the work on the valves anyway so you should be able to see any damage on the piston. Maybe you can just get a new valve and spring installed and the new rockers and be good to go again. If you don't have the repair manual check my signature. Good luck.
