What DONT you like about those YFZ's?
Thats not the question, the question is does it cost them more to make. Think of the fact that they just marked the raptor down a good bit, that means that they could spare that much and still not even hurt their proffit. What does that say about their markup?

I don't complain about their price. It's competitive. Very competitive. Look at what happened to Cannondale with their prices. They didn't artificially inflate their price. In fact, it was far too low (or they didn't ship enough units) to sustain them.
We need these companies to make money. That is how new products, and Yamaha's sport lineup specifically totally dominates other manufacturers. Blaster, Warrior, Banshee, Wolverine, Raptor, YFZ. Right across all the spectrum.
If you want a cheaper price, buy used. If you want the newest machines, then step up.
The raptor has had 3 years of great sales to help pay for the initial cost of manufacturing, so dropping the price a bit probably doesn't hurt the margin that bad anyway.....
(I guess the Banshee should be priced at about $1K then huh.........)

From the standpoint of an average consumer/recreational rider, I can see no need for improvement. All the shops are pretty busy on the engine and parts are starting to really surface. Fit and finish seems very good. Again, this is coming from joe consumer not some hardcore racer. I just install fuel and run the cute little throttle lever.
An alcohol kit tested and included for ~4800' would be nice.
A lower price won't help me any.

Besides the sticker I have heard minimal complaints about the yfz....I myself have none whatsoever....There were a few people who had damaged their A-arms, and people were freaking out about that, but I can tell you after this weekends expirience the a-arms don't appear to be any more weak than other stock a-arms out there.
