BigScary remember that your rappy is modded quite a bit. Stock for stock the bikes will win the majority of the time

 

Yea ive pulled away from MANY BIKES EASY.. ive beat a piped yz250f ive beat many bikes and a quad will keep up very well on an mx track.

 

i heard the new YZ85 cranks out 23hp! that's probably from the crank, but still... that's a lot for an 85cc motor.

modern 250s crank out 50hp no problem, some almost 60. i wish i had one of those in my quad...

The only stock 250 MX bike to ever dyno at or above 50hp is the 2003 KTM 250SX.

 

I'll bet you guys that the old 490 Yamaha dirtbike will give you all a run for your money, it does go 100+ /mph stock

Sorry but the two smokes are more like 40-45rwhp just like their YZF-CRF counterparts, if you wanna reach 55hp then you are in the 500cc territory...

 

I found a complete running yamaha 490 for 100 bucks and was thinking of maby trying a engine swap on a 250 quadracer. Any one have any tips or coments on this?

 

Me and my friend kevin both ride quads but his dad rides a cr450.... and when we race on concrete or whatever i keep up with it were just even but it will win me somtimes... but man is that a big bike lol

 

Wrong. I had a Rick Petersons Motorsports 285cc kit for my 1999 YZ250. Ported, polished, carb bored, FMF pipe w/ Shorty silencer, etc. That thing was cranking out approx 53-54 hp on 110 octane leaded fuel. It was a monster. The RPM YZ 300 stroker kit puts out about 6 more hp then the 285 kit last I checked. Its easy to get over 55 hp with a 2 stroke mx bike. The 285 kit only cost me about $700. Thats with everything...bored cylinder, all cylinder and head mods, powervalve mods, new wiseco 285 top end kit, gaskets. etc

 

I believe they were talking about stock quad hp..........
there is on doubt in anybody's mind, in this forum, that you could get 60hp outta a mx bike with big bore kit..........
