Left the key turned on now it won't start
My wife has a warrior that she rarely rides and I guess the last time it was ridden the key was left on... and not noticed for at least a week. Now the battery seems to be dead but I can jump start it. I jump started it and rode it around to try to see if that would charge the battery but it didn't. How does a quad recharge its battery? It doesn't seem that they have any kind of alternator.

I would just buy a new battery. Even if you charge it up, do you really want to take the chance of it failing out in the pits far from where you can jump it? I wouldn't.

You will most likely have to buy a new battery. When a battery goes dead you can try to recharge it but it most likely wont hold the charge.

Dude i'm in the same boat as you...just finished working on my raptor and noticed i had the key on for like two-three weeks. starts with jumpers but thats it. dealer says $70 for a new battery. but he also suggested riding it for an hour. he said it would take a minimum of half an hour before it starts to recharge.
should have asked him how it recharges (was in a rush). without an alternator i don't see how this is possible. |

a ATV recharges through a Rectifier (Spelling)... Sorry to tell you your battery is dead, RIP, taking the long sleep, kicked the can, outta Commision! lol its no big problem to replace them, i think i bought mine for 10 dollars. Just dont leave the key on anymore!

I measured my battery and went to Wal-Mart found one close for $19.95 the dealer wanted $70. These machines charge thru a stator(in side the cases) and a rectifier mounted on the frame. More than likley it just the battery too weak to take charge.

My Raptor was left with the key on and the brake light on for a week. Needless too say, the battery was completely dead....would not even take charge. I had a buddy pull start me and it fired right up. After several hours of riding it would slowly crank and by the day was over it was cranking over fine.

If you have a battery charger try that. If it's been drained all the way down a slow charge over a long period of time may do the trick. Heck, it's worth a try.......
