I just was looking at some atv's on Ebay and just saw some suspicious listings. Have any of you ever purchased a large dollar item over Ebay. I am not so sure about this one. Something just doesn't seem right.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

No I did not see that. I was looking a 03 Wolvy with no reserve!!! What is up there? It has only 1 bid on it with only 20 hours left to bid. No pics and no location...... very mysterious

I've gotten screwed over on Ebay with a mountain bike frame. The seller (extremehabit) flat out lied about the condition. I was able to get my money back but only after a drawn out, time consuming process of disputing the charges on my credit card.

Then again, my dad has purchased 2 street bikes off ebay and the transactions went fine. There is no guarantee that you won't get screwed, but be sure to ask many questions via email (so you have a written record) and use common sense. If it looks suspicious it probably is. You can always call the seller as well, and that will shed some light on it.

Ive never got anything on there but I have seen alot of scams. So look out and make sure you dont loose some cash!

Just the other week, my dad bought a Suzuki Samurai off ebay for $1500 in great condition, the guy even drove it down here to us. im not saying ebay wont sell you a scam, i recently saw about 8 scams in a row, Raptors, Banshees, YFZs, Grizzlys, all for a buy it now price of $2800.00, honestly who is stupid enough to fall for those??!! unless you have no experience in quads. If i were president, lol, i would have thieves given the death penalty if they stole something over $50.00, that would cut down on thieves alot. the reason i feel so strong about hating thieves is because they stole my blaster, dirtbike and pressure washer.

Do not buy a quad unless you can go see it to pick it up. Never wire the Money that is the big scam!

Here is my advice- cash value 1/1000th of 1 cent - ha

Be very skeptical if you plan to purchase an ATV through ebay. The scams on ATVs and other items are rampant right now.

Here are some of the possible signs.

1. It is a pre-approved bidders auction.
2. The feedback for all the seller's previous items is good, however the items normally sold are totally unrelated. Example- 99% of the items are diapers, playing cards, pictures books - and then all of a sudden they have three quads to sell at dirt cheap prices.
3. The prices are extremely cheap with "FREE SHIPPING".
4. The supposed seller will attempt to contact you with an e-mail that says they only accept western union payment, you have to 100% accept their terms, and they try to give you a false sense of confidence.
5. A lot of these scams are listed using the "buy it now" on a 3 day posting.
6. The inability of the sellers to spell words in English in their e-mail responses.

In most cases, the original seller had great feedback and their account was somehow compromised (fake emails that appeared to be from e-bay, and just plain old password hacking.)

I've corresponded with a few of the scammers who had stolen pictures from other users and websites. Why, Just to piss them off and pretend like I was buying into their scam. Then I send them a nastygram and notify e-bay. I just hate to think these axxholes are ripping off hard working Americans. People that earn their money in the hope of buying a quad for a little R&R. These people are as bad or worse as the people that steal quads. And we all know those folks should be shot.

Well, that's my rant. Be careful bidding. Make 100% sure you know who you are dealing with.

If I know it is a blatant scam, I use the Buy It Now and not respond to their e-mails or tell them to shove it, and notify ebay of the scam. There were 3 new Z400's for a buy it now price of $1800!!! I bought all three, paid for none!!! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
