Here is my stopid suggestion... Have you checked your battery? My buddy's Raptor would not start up at all, but the headlights would turn on brightly ( no sign of a weak battery ) the Light indicators for the temperature gauge, and the Neutral indicator all turned on brightly, and when you pressed the started, all you would hear is this wierd knows coming from a switch box connected behind the battery. When we replaced his battery with mine, it started up right away.

My brother in laws '03 Grizz did the same thing one cold day a few weeks ago. Seems like his is hard to get started sometimes when it's cold. Once it gets started though it runs great. Seems like his was just flooded. We pulled the plug and it was wet. We cleaned the plug and blew some air into the cylinder. Had to do this a couple of times before it finally started. After that it was fine.
When he bought the thing the dealer told him they don't like starting when it's cold which I thought was odd at the time but it seems to be true.

30 seconds? Are you nuts?! If you want to replace the starter too, go for it.

TRK574- It sounds like you are not getting fuel to the cylinder. Check for gas flow into and out of the carb.

apparently i had water in the fuel, figured id tried some different fresh gas so i started to drain the tank with the cap off and fuel stopped flowing, switched it to reserve and it flowed so then back to on pos. and it started flowing so i tried it. started right up but kept stalling and running like crap, backfiring and all, i assume water to be the problem

IT was the Plug!!

I installed a brand new, properly gapped plug and on the first turn over she started right up..

The other plug was black on the tip with a little black crud in between the insulator and the outside of the plug?

The plug its self looks in good condition. Should I clean it up regap and keep it as a spare of just get another new one to keep as a spare.

Thanks again for all the help!

TF

Yes, there is nothing wrong with that plug. Clean the carbon off and it will work like new.
