Everyone's impression on the yfz 450

Hi i'm new to this forum. I was just wondering how good is the new race bike. Is it is good as the magazines say or is that an over estimate. I will look into buying one this summer so everything helps. Which would you take a trx450 or yfz450. thanks

I would take the YFZ over the Honda, simply because I bleed Yamaha blue, not honda red

They both seem awesome. I've never ridden either though so I really should'nt even be posting. I am Yamaha loyal and very biased.

GO EAGLES!!!!!!!

Knowing what I know about the base CRF motor, I'd buy the Honda and mod the hell out of it. The CRR450 can be taken to a 500 and made to run like a mofo. I don't know when I'll see a TRX450/500 pass me up the hills, but I know for a fact it can be done.

If I only had $1000.00 to mod w/, I'd still get the Honda. I'm too damn far into the YFZ now to back out.

Funny, none of my Hondas (3 total) broke within 20 hours. Hmmmm....

What did you break in 20 hrs. And, dont tell me that a crf wont break either. INFACT, I see those things being torn apart all the time. Guys are always talking about them having to be rebuilt a lot sooner then they should. Don't get me wrong, as far as quality goes, honda has the notch, as far as technology, as and speed, yamaha has the nod.
Im sure that the honda can be bored out to a 500 an all, but I can also strap an f-16 engine to a raptor 80, and have the fastest quad out there. It always always comes down to who has deeper pockets. Stock for stock though, I would totally go with the yfz. and unless your going to get crazy, and go to a 500cc, which makes it non-raceable on the track, I would still totally go with the yfz. That honda is going to need a lot more attention then the yfz to make it run its best or equal with the yfz.
Not sure if your talking about the trx or the crf, cause they are not alike at all. a crf powered 400ex would blow the doors off the trx450. The guy I think is looking at buying either the trx or yfz, so to start talking about the crf kind of makes it misleading. Anyways, thats my .2 cents. Take it easy and good luck with your choice!
FYI, I am going to have the better of the 2 quads. Im really not brand loyal between honda and yamaha. IFFFFF the honda proves to be a better quad, well, guess I'll just have to get one of those too. I highly highly doubt it will though!! I'll pick yamaha usually though, because I am sick of being let down by honda in the performance aspect, street and ATV. The only thing they really got going for them is the crf!

..............If you take anything, and mod it up really good, your going to break something. The more you mod it, the more wear and tear your going to have, and the more the engine is free to run, the harder it is on it. That does seem to be a little rediculous that something broke within 20 hrs. I have been riding the ever living piss out of mine, and have not had a problem yet.
I like your toys by the by. Sounds like you got an awesome quad, and a great dirtbike. Thats the way I would go too. Nothing against the yz450f, its just the crf fits me a lot better, and is alot easier to ride. However, the yz seems a hell of alot faster and out of control to me. Its more that explosive power, where as the crf is smooth. I definately prefer the smooth. Both bikes are great, and better in different ways, but the crf is better in more ways in my opinion!

135boom, since you own a yfz 450 i went and looked a one today and they had one that had all the gyt-r parts like bumpers, skid plates, graphics, and an exhaust system. the salesman told me the yfz would benefit more from the gyt-r exhaust than any other is that true or is he trying to sell their exhaust. also what did you pay for yours (bad question i know but im curious) they want 6899.00 which is non-negotiable which is total bull$hit. hopefully i will get one after my broken leg heals up like new! thanks for the help man!!!

if your planning on leaving your quad stock (which i hope you dont cuz you would be a total idiot) go with the TRX, it has more torque but as soon as you add a few mods to both the yfz will start pulling away. It responds to mods better than the TRX.

The new YFZ450's are absolutly amazing! There is no quad in the world that I rather have..... If I could afford a new 450 anyway.
