yamaha gives me a 2004 raptor!!!!!!!!!!
bighonda,
Glad everything worked out for the best.
As for "Have you ever heard of this happening before?"
I have only saw this twice in the 15 years that I have been involved with the OEM side of the business.
Suzuki replaced a 1400 Intruder motorcycle for one of our customers because the engine would lose power after 15 min. of riding time. This engine had several thousand miles on it, but was still covered under warranty. We tore the engine down, specd' everything, replaced the rings, put it back together and still the same thing. Replaced every electrical part on it I think and still done it. After a Suzuki Rep came down to check it out and was baffled himself, he arranged for a swap. I can't remember for sure, but I do beleive this was around 1990.
Honda replaced a Foreman450 in 2001, because the guy kept breaking rear drive shafts. This guy way overloaded the quad. I would hate to even guess how much this guy weighed, but around 500 would be a conservative guess! He completely bottomed the rear suspension when he sat on it. He complained enough that Honda sent a guy out and swapped him a Rubicon500 for the 450!! Not only that, but this was the first time I ever known Honda to RECOMMEND an aftermarket accessory part. It was a overload suspension system offered by CDS out of LA. It's a shock that goes from your trailer hitch to the rear rack for added support for hauling purposes.
So, to sum it up, the guy got a new quad and a $200 acessory all due to him being over weight.
Maybe Honda was looking at the big picture.......Better to give him what he needs rather than call him a fata$$ and have him sue for discrimmination.......LOL
Anyway, like I said, with my years and carrying 6 different brands with this only happening twice, I say you got a rare offer and a great one at that!!! Congrats!!
