what is the Auto-Clutch
 
what exactly does it mean Auto- clutch, on the big bear 400 4x4, could someone please explain it. thank you

auto clutch means you still use a foot shifter but theres no clutch to pull. also the shift pattern is just goin up unlike with a manuel clutch you shift down from neutral to get to first gear.

ditto! Alot of the older quads use to have these with the smaller cc engines. Like the Honda TRX 125, 200sx, fourtrax 250, ect;

what is the Auto-Clutch
 
The auto clutch is used on a lot more than small displacement atvs. It was used on most utilites and lots of 200-300cc displacement sport bikes. It is still used on the honda 450, 350, and 250 bikes. the suzuki vinson 500, most arctic cats, a few midsized yamahas and more. Its a great idea and is very reliable. it also supplies much more control of the power in trails and under load.

There is also an auto clutch for MX racing there using them on the Yamaha yfz450's clutch
