Ive had more than enough seat time on both. And god, you do not want to stay long on the 450 on a trail. The 450 is setup PERFECTLY for the track, with the bars sitting low, the width, egronamics and everything. Its built for the purpose of racing, and that is what it is great at, but its not the best choice for the average recreational rider. The Raptor on the other hand is the ultimate trail machine. It has monster torque and will climb any hill you point it at, very comftarble and sits nice, a very nice broad 4-Stroke power. The tippyness myth is cause of the tires, for me it was. When I had stock tires, i barely felt it, didnt know why people mad such a big deal, but when I put my aftermarket tires on, it vanished. What a difference. I say go with the Raptor for the type of riding you are going to be doing. For stricly track, go 450, for recreational riding, go Raptor.

yfz tranny is fine. Only problems so far have been the weak swingarm which was fixed in the first few months. Some have complained of a hard seat, weak motor mounts, and a few weak seals. Most of these problems have only been found by professional mx racers and will not show up during anything less than 80' triples.

They could if they wanted to, but there is no reason to. They already have the fastest machine. Plus if you bore it out to a full 449, then racers wont have the ability to rebuild a blow up without resleeving. That saves hundreds of dollars. IMO, I think I like it better as a 439cc.
