Ok i posted a earlier threat about a used 2000 banshee that has seen better days, found a different banshee, older but the guy wants more money for it.
1997 Banshee

Red/Black/White
Bills Pipes
Boost Bottle
Fresh Rubber
Engine Recently Rebuilt

this is what the add describes, also in the pic i saw of it it has graphics kit, shaved front fenders and no headlight(things i am not happy about, except the graphics)

Anything i should watch out for on this quad?

Its about an hour and a half out of town, but the weird thing is the guy is selling like 2 min from my camp.

Ok went and looked at the banshee and here is the scoop.

- When i got there the kid could not get it started, he said he brought it to school that day and ran it out of gas. I said so your trying to start it with no gas, and he said no, there is gas in it, weedwacker gas..... so ummm ok

-Could not get the thing started, he was like umm, lets pull start it with my truck....umm no buddy just drain the gas and i will come back tomorrow.,

-Next I was like ok, well better do a compression check anyways, the motor was clearly flooded and cold, but what the hell
1 cylinder 95lbs second 125lbs

So there is another point to consider, even though the engine was cold.

-He says there is less than 10 hours on the fresh engine

-Oh and it was raced twice

-Besides all this, he did make it look pretty, lol repainting the frame, and putting on a graphics kit.

-Oh and he told me he bought it in bad shape, and fixed it up

-One more thing, the grab bar was ground down on an angle, looked like the machine was ridden down pavement wheeling on the grab bar. (He said it was like that when he got it)

So here are some points to consider, any input would be greatly appreciated

95Ib is waay low. if you get it you'll have to put a new top end on it. and its prolly no on stock bore. if the compression is so uneven like that it usally means there its a scratch in the cilinder and you'd have to bore it. and if hes runnin weed waker gas in it its not good. the plugs are for sure fouled. how much he want for it? i'd give him 1500.

i was also looking at that bike if its the same one, but learned that he has only bored out one cyclider .02 over and the other is stock and thats a prob so you have to redo the top end again.

yeah he told me they where bored to 20 over so it would need another bore(yes the bike is between iron bridge and thessalon) if you looked at it

And he told me that it wasnt raced and that he got it stock and in mit shape?????? lol were getting different stories.
