Default blaster oil pump

hey,
i was wondering if any one has ever had any problems with their oil pump on a blaster. My brother has a 1994 blaster and since it's oil injected he was told to watch out because of the oil pump. Any problems? If so, what were they, and how did you fix them.

iv taken my bike through some rogh stuff and my injection is still workin great but it would be best if u did mix ur own fuel cuz with the injection u dont get a consitant mixture and by mixing ur gas will increase the life bye using amsoil or red line synthetic oils, BTW i still run mine with it but will be gettin rid of it when i can afford the block off kit

Out of all the blasters that have ever been produced by yamaha I would say maybe 5% of them have trouble with the oil injectors and its usually because of rider error. If you are filling up the tank and dropping all kinds of dirt and mud inside then you can kiss your motor goodbuy. You have to look after it. Just like everything else, if you look after it, it will look after you.

I removed mine for the simple reason that I just didnt trust it. Something about my whole motor resting on the fact that a little plastic gear might spin didnt sit to well

that's something I'd like to know.
If you let the oil reservoir go empty will air get into the system?
and can you just let it go empty and pre-mix yourself?

Yes you can. If you dont want to fill up the reavior then just premix it.
You don't need a oil block off kit. You can buy the pieces seperatly. I was unable to get the kit so I ordered a clutch cover gasket, a oil pump gasket, a 1/8 nipple plug for the carb (you can find them at any hardware/auto store) and then had a plate cut from fiberglass to fit where the oil pump once was. It works fine. All you need to do is make sure you use some silicone or glue to make sure the nipple plug dosn't fall off.

That is all that the kit contains, and you can buy the pieces for like 15 bucks.
