Here are the times from my first two runs ever on a 300' sand track. First run was time trial to get a dial-in time. Second run was round 1 of eliminations.

Even though I red-lighted the 2nd run I still won because the other person red-lighted worse than I did. So how are these for my first time.

The first run I had an oil leak at the base gasket. The second run I had a cracked cylinder and it was spewing oil. Once I get that fixed, and with my new 21/12/8 ultralight 9 paddles I think I can improve quite a bit. I am hoping to get it into the low 5.0-5.1 range when I get the engine rebuilt and am running under full power. Then next will come a Boondockers nitrous kit.

What times are you other guys running on your Raptors? Am I even close?

I will post times and pic's tomorrow on my first drag race event that took place tonight. I'm just far too tired to fool with it now. But I will definetly get it all taken care of tomorrow in one big post.

Congrat's on the time, and I hope you get everything back together. I'm sure with tinkering and more break in you can get some really good times.

How does your time compare to other raptor owners? Is 5.658 in 300' a fast run? How does 4.0 sound in 200'?

BBERTRAM, I don't know how it compares. That is what I am trying to find out. I would like to know what other Raptor owners have run. Higher or lower. So I know what I have to improve on.

i ran a 4.9 and 5.0 at 330ft on asphalt last summer with my 686 before my new mods.....if this helps!

RaptorRacer- Not bad times. Your 60 foot is the area for your biggest improvement. With a little more track time and launching hard you should be able to get into the 1.9's. Your times are respectable. Tracks vary from place to place. The fastest raptors that i usually see run 4.9 and 5.0. It takes massive hp to get into the low 4's. Most 686's run from 5.3-5.8

Mine is running around 5.0 flat. Nothing under 5.0 yet though in 300ft. In 200ft,
the best Ive had on the timeslip is a 3.92. This is all on dirt, with horrid launch zones -
and no wheelie bars. Im totally satisfied none the less, since Im on a pretty mild
build. I have LOTS of room to go up [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] It sure looks impressive when a mild 686 Raptor
is taking out 535 Cheetah Banshees and drag Zillas in 300ft of dirt .

Here is a setup question for you dragracers. With stock gearing and 22" paddles I bog just a little bit when leaving in 2nd. When leaving in 1st it winds up so fast that I have to shift almost immediately to second. Either way I have to shift to 4th just before the finish.

Should I go up a couple teeth in the rear and leave in second, or should I go down a couple teeth in the rear and leave in 1st? Or any other suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

This has to be bracket racing (most tracks are) for a properly tuned 535 Banshee will demolish a 686 Raptor heads up...guaranteed.

I was running stock gearing w/ 21-12-8 8 paddle haulers and it would do the same bog. I switched to a 12 tooth front and it pulls 2nd beautifully now. That is what I would do, cheaper and easier. I also have a 14, but I was happy enough with the 12 tooth-2nd gear launches that I didn't try it out.

Since nobody has asked the obvious, why the cracked cylinder? Are you going to have to buy a whole new jug?
