I've Lost all hope
Well.. heres how it goes..
I went up to st. anthonys about a month ago. Before i left up there i was having oil tank problems but i j-b welded it and it was holding. So we get up there friday night ride that night, ride sat all day, then ride sunday.. im down at choke cherry and im racing my buddies shee. well i get up the mountain and im coming down and my bike just like shut off. I pulled in the clutch and coated down to the bottom. After that i made sure it was in neutral and tried to start it.. all it did was spin the starter.. so i got towed back to camp by the shee and we packed up and headed home.. I got online and asked you guys what the prob could be and you said sounds like the one way bearing so i figured all that out and got a l&A one way and a new gear($250)heavy duty clutch(150) it into the shop to get it repaird.. well the bike started leaking oil again so i also ordered a new oil tank.($120) SO today the shop tears it apart and gives me a call.. I guess what happened is the bolts came off the one way when it broke and the timing chain went off also so timing chains also broke along with possibly the head including the valves.. hopefully it didnt touch the case but he said the head he belives has a crack in it.. he told me a rough estimate of $800 bucks so. thats 800 250 150 120 ____ $1,370(+++++++LABOR) Im just about ready to take a match to it im sick of dumping money into it i bought it for 4700 and i have prob put 5000 into it what should i do any stress relief techniques.. any way to get insurance to cover this misshap? I have insurance |

what should i do Lets this be a small leason, timing chains wear out and break. I would replace mine often, depending on how much you ride. The are relativley cheap and are easy to put on. |

I was also reading some other posts about cams.. and chains.. could it be that when the dude installed my cam that he didnt adjust the tensioner and it took 5 or 8 times out to actually mess things up/
If so can i lay this problem on the dude that built my bike? If youve read some of my isssues in the past everything thats been going wrong seems to be because of the builder of my bike.. can recepts and bills for repairs prove anything? |

To know for sure that it was the builders fault you would have had to disassemble the cam chain tensioner in a certain order and check it out then.....nope sorry *brain fart* there is no way of knowing if that is what happened after the chain already broke.
Not knowing who built it I couldn't even beging to guess, but if that was the origanl cam chain it probably just went because of the new added stress. |
