I cant believe that it tells you to run premium in a wolverine.

It will be a waste of money on a stock engine, octane does not make horsepower.

it won't give you more horse power it will just run better it says if it spits and sputters usualy running a higher octain will get rid of that problem.

The higher the octane a fuel is, the harder it is to ignite. When you have a high HP car, the cylinder temp is hot enough to ignite fuel without the spark, so know the piston has to fight its way to the top of the stroke aganist the expanding combustion gases. This is refered to as a knock, or detonation. Running a higher octane means the fuel will not ignite just from heat, and makes engine feel super sexxy.J/k

I have run 87,,89,,and 92 in mine.
With the 92 it seems to have more low end torque but the engine runs hotter.
After running all 3 I now run the 89.
It seems to do best and run cooler and smoother with the 89.

When fuel ignites without a spark it is called dieseling . Pinging or detonation is caused by fuels of low octane ratings , improper timing , and a number of other things . Basically fuels of low octane rating will not burn under high pressures but will explode . Normal burn rates are in the 30/40k fps while exploding gases travel at a rate in excess of 80k fps . The resulting pressure wave from this action is heard as ping or " spark knock " as it strikes the piston dome and cylinder walls .Burning high test fuels do NOT hurt your 4 wheeler ! Also difficuly in igniting the fuel air charge is usually caused by a lean condition or faulty system components !
