I want to upgrade my tires, but stay with the stock size. I was thinking about the ITP Mud Lite, but was thinking that they will have too much bite for the power of the Wolverine. Or the ITP Holeshot ATR radial tire. Finding the best tire is a balancing act, too little bite= too much wheel spin and too much bite=make the machane bogs and is slow.

check out my profile (http://forums.atvconnection.com/photos.cfm/ID/6321/#TOP) I put on 25" mudlites on mine I did lose a little power but it was worth it I can go any where and I can still easyly do a wheely. I stayed with my stock rims too. the only problem with them is if I take a too sharp of a corner on my lanw it lifts the grass up because on the tire agresiveness. they are also realy light for their size. If you want to get holeshots you might have to get new rims which isn't cheap.

What about the performace, can you still slide the bike around?

You're really limited on choices with the stock 23 inchers. Have you looked at the Titan 489 AT's (4-ply)? I have the XT's (6-ply), but feel they are a little heavy and too "hard" for grip in wet conditions.

well I found out that all the rims are 7-12 so all you realy need to do is find some tires that are set for 12 inch rims and you could pic your width. but all the tires have to be the same height. I can still realy throw mine around real good. Actualy now I can do donuts even easyer now.

Are the stock tires really that bad? I mean do I really need to change?

if your not going to be running into alot of snow and mud they sould be perfectly fine. if you are then you moght want to consider somthing more aggresive. a good way to tell on the wolverines tires is if the tires don't have dimpled slots in the middle of the tread then it 's going to be time to change them soon. hint the day before you get your new ones burn out the onld ones . it's cool looking. since you live in canada you realy might want to change.

Well the dimpled slots are gone down the middle, but they sure feel like they have some life in them. What are you thought on the Holeshot ATR? or going with a radial tire?

I was just in your shoes, and needed new tires for my 2000 400cc Kodiak.

I went with the 26" ITP holeshot ATRs.........what a great great radial tire.

I wanted a sporty more aggressive than stock tire, for fast logging road riding and general trail grip, and I didn't want a heavy lugged mud tire.

The ATR's were within a couple pounds of stock weight, and measured out at 25 1/4" actual height which is close to stock. I'm glad I went with the 26" size instead of the 25"........

$400 shipped from Rocky Mountain, and $5 a tire mounting at Wallmart got me some great tires that HOOK UP.........you just point it and go, and the front tires really handled tons better than stock and grip/conform to the rocks/logs on the trail.
